I am the first born of the three children. I was not the perfect Asian-first-born-daughter that my mother may claim, though, I was very much like my father – striving by rules and proud to be a good member of society. I came to the United States in 1996, with very little English speaking skills. Despite the language barrier, I was hired as a Head Teacher at the Child Development Lab School in University of North Texas while completing a Masters degree in Human Development and Family Studies.
After graduation, I worked for an Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) program as an Early Intervention Specialist. I was known by my colleagues as someone who empowered parents to be advocates for their children, and to be leaders in the community. One day, out of a conversation with a friend, I started a career transition that I am forever grateful for— a Professional Nanny. I can proudly say I give and receive hugs and kisses at work, and no law suits follow!!
Play and Joy,
Hsiao-Ling (Nanny for six–ages 7, 5, 3, 2, 3-month, one-month)
